Piper excelsum subsp. psittacorum, or more commonly known as Kawakawa.

This shrub usually grows up to about 1.5m tall, and 1m wide, so would need trimming to ensure it doesn't get too tall if you plant it on your berm.

This species has glossy, heart shaped green leaves, with orange fruit that develops throughout the year.

The Kawakawa prefers shade, and moist soil with good drainage, but can withstand drought well once grown. When first planted, make sure to water well. This plant is great for beginners as is pretty easy to grow from seed, and to maintain.

This plant is great for your berm as they are great habitats for insects and lizards due to their shade.
