Dianella nigra, or more commonly known as the New Zealand blueberry or Tūrutu.
This grass type shrub usually grows up to about 50cm tall, and 30cm wide, so is perfect for your berm as is not too high to block drivers' view.
In Spring and Summer they bloom with small white flowers and in violet berries appear in summer. These berries attract birds and provide them with food.
This species is easily grown from seed, and is best planted in moist soil. They prefer partial shade, but will tolerate full sun and dry conditions once established.
