Phormium cookianum, or more commonly known as Mountain Flax, or by its Maori name; Wharariki.
These plants grow up to 1m height and width. They prefers full sun, as they don't do well in shade. They will tolerate both dry and wet.
Plant before summer, so the plants have a good chance to develop their root system before the soil dries out.
Plant approximately 1m apart, and water well.

These plants would be great to include in your berm as their flowers provide nectar to feed native birds such as Tuis and Bellbirds.
